Working with Datawrapper

In this section, I’ve included a few maps that were generated using Datawrapper. I wanted to try a mapping service outside of the traditional QGIS or ArcGIS and through Datawrapper, I’ve created two point symbol and three choropleth maps.  The maps below are interactive, which is a unique function of Datawrapper, and moving the cursor over each spatial depiction highlights a specific datum.

The first two illustrations are point symbol maps. One highlights every Dunkin’ Donut location across Massachusetts with the local address of each unit detailed also. Following this, I’ve created a map showing the locations of major sporting venues across the US with the circles weighted by size to illustrate stadium capacity. Each map is includes a zoom function for easier viewing.

Point Symbol Maps

Choropleth Maps

Also included are three choropleth maps. The first highlights total population for each state in the US with the states projected in hexagon format. Below this are two maps detailing the total population for each County in Georgia, USA, and the total number of employed individuals at the tract level in Washington, D.C.
